Australia’s Comfort Shift: Why Air Max 2017 and Phantom React Keep Getting Mentioned
SOLESTREET NEWS REPORT
by John Speer
Foot fatigue complaints rise, two sneakers keep getting mentioned as the fix.
AUSTRALIA WIDE, A growing number of everyday sneaker buyers are shifting away from “looks-only” pairs and toward what many are calling comfort-first footwear. While trend-driven sneakers still dominate social feeds, a different pattern is emerging on the retail floor and in online enquiries.
Shoppers are asking less about what’s hyped and more about what actually lasts through a full day.
Two models keep appearing in the conversation: the Nike Air Max 2017 and the Nike React Phantom Run.
Slide for comfort
“My feet are cooked by lunchtime” becomes a recurring complaint
Across work shifts, daily errands and travel-heavy routines, foot fatigue is repeatedly cited as the breaking point. Many shoppers describe the same cycle: a pair feels fine at first, then comfort drops off fast once the day stretches out.
Hard floors. Long hours. Constant movement.
For these buyers, the solution isn’t louder sneakers it’s better ones.
Comfort sneakers that don’t look like “comfort sneakers”
One reason both models continue to attract attention is simple: they don’t look like support shoes.
The Air Max 2017 brings a clean, futuristic runner silhouette that works effortlessly with cargos, tracksuits and oversized tees, practical without looking bulky.
The React Phantom Run leans even more minimal, with a sock-like fit and streamlined profile that disappears into everyday outfits while still delivering serious comfort.
In both cases, the appeal is the same: function without compromise.
Where the Air Max 2017 focuses on plush cushioning and impact absorption, the React Phantom Run prioritises flexibility, responsiveness and a secure, locked-in feel.
Together, they represent two approaches to the same problem helping people get through long days without thinking about their feet.
Why this matters right now
The bigger story isn’t just about specific models. It’s about a shift in what shoppers value.
As more people prioritise day-to-day comfort, sneakers that combine cushioning, stability and clean design are becoming the default choice not the exception.
The Air Max 2017 and React Phantom Run sit firmly in that lane: practical comfort, wearable style, real-life performance.
And for a growing number of Australians, that’s exactly what they’ve been looking for.
I had concerns about their customer service and shipping turnaround based on some reviews online
I had concerns about their customer service and shipping turnaround based on some reviews online. But I took a leap of faith, because they offered the best resell price on a shoe I was after. 3 days came and went and I didn’t get any notification or email regarding my order so I just called them up. The nice staff assured me that it was getting shipped that same day. A couple of days later I got the kicks in mint and genuine condition and I was extremely happy. My only advice is for them to immediately send a confirmation email and timeline regarding orders for the buyer’s peace of mind, because that’s already how all online shops operate.
I purchased these and when trying on I was given the right shoe which fit once travelling home and taking the left shoe out of the box there was one of the stickers stuck to the toe of the shoe. I was too far to take back and taking the sticker off the residue has been stuck on the shoe. Im disappointed as I was not made aware and the toe of the sneaker is damaged
I dont normally buy shoes off line, these are great quality, comfortable and match the description they are sold under. They are so good i bought two pairs but different colours
good customer service and reliable would recommend
Absolutely beautiful and it doesn't roll, just like the sales assistant said. I also love the fact you can adjust the length. I prefer 50cm, so it's just perfect. I recommend this if you have been looking for a great quality tennis necklace!
